Seating

The LIAIGRE catalogue offers a wide selection of seats, going from chairs, armchairs and lounge chairs to sofas, daybeds and stools. They are available in different materials, leather or fabric upholstery, or all wood, distinguished by their apparent simplicity. Behind the soberness of their clean lines, is the wish to offer optimal comfort and ease of use. While the Studio systematically centers their design around the user, the vast seating range reflects a design concept to which the brand owes much of its reputation for quality.

The history of furniture is closely linked to the history of our vital needs. It began with what nature could first offer man as a support to sit, rest, eat or sleep. Tree stumps or trunks, stones, carpets of branches or leaves, etc. The different elements that make up our furniture were born from these basic needs, which have led over time to the multiplication of typologies, to those we know today. At the heart of everyday use, the range of seating reflects the evolution of ways of life and needs, even beyond that of style. Since the beginning of the 20th century, most designers, decorators and architects have sought to create at least one emblematic seat, to the extent that the

history of modern and contemporary design can be summarized (which has already been done) in a series of creations in this category alone… The reason for this enthusiasm probably lies in the highly technical nature of the design of a seat. A seat which is destined to accommodate the body and provide comfortable support, is an exercise in ergonomics before it becomes one of style. The answer is immediate: an uncomfortable seat, no matter how beautiful, is quickly replaced by one that keeps its promise.

Seating for every room in the house, every use or moment: chairs for working at a desk, sitting at a dining room, or meeting table… Armchairs or lounge chairs that snuggly fit, close to the ground, perfect for chatting, reading, dreaming and playing; deep sofas that invite you for a nap, a long discussion, or to daydream… The range is wide, with numerous aspirations and needs! Sometimes a fitted alcove, can be equipped with comfortable benches that provide a reading or resting place… For each of its designs, the Studio devotes itself to the same lavishness, with a concern for precise proportions and an attention to the feel and touch of the different materials: the texture of leather, the softness of the linen, cotton, or wool upholstery; sand blasted, brushed or lacquered wood which invite you to feel them. Houses, apartments, gardens, yachts, offices, restaurants and hotels, the seating collections are present in all types of spaces… Many of them have become emblematic of the brand,

embodying its style and values, such as the Augustin sofa created in 2002 with its deep, floor-level seat. The same is true of the Arpège sofa launched in 2021, the first modular sofa in the LIAIGRE collection, with a wide variety of setups and uses that appeal to customers who love freedom. Among the flagship models, the Maritime or Robinson chairs, the Saint Germain armchair with its bronze structure that gives it a sculptural silhouette, as well as the Archer and Voluto armchairs… Some of these iconic models are available on our eshop, in particular the Infante chair and armchair and the Mandarin armchair. The contemporary art of living is based on comfort and freedom of movement, and LIAIGRE has made this its guiding principle since the first designs of the mid-1980s. A requirement for comfort combined with an impeccable design is now attracting a new generation of enthusiasts.
