Liaigre and its manufacturing

When Christian Liaigre signed his first creations in the mid-1980s, he decided to rely on high quality French know-how. The manufacturing, highlighted as a guarantee of quality, went hand in hand with a design that shunned the spirit of the times and turned towards more timeless lines with strong references to the French modernist style of the 1920s and 30s. Since then and during its evolution, the Maison Liaigre has remained loyal to its philosophy and has a high requirement level. From the Parisian design studio to the craftsmen’s workshops and the showrooms around the world, the desire to offer something exceptional is obvious.

From the beginning, Christian Liaigre sought to inscribe his creations in line with the history of the decorative arts and French décor. His approach detached itself from other creation houses and is characterized by the love of noble materials and crafts. Not easy to defend in the middle of the 1980s when contemporary design in its eclecticism laid claim to a laboratory of ideas and expressed itself through all sorts of materials (metal, glass, plastic, medium panels). Since its creation and during its evolution, the Maison remained loyal to its conception of furniture. Liaigre has always known how to seduce clients who want to live with contemporary furniture, whilst yearning for durable materials and shapes. The elegant windows of the showrooms attract all over the world since the first showroom, rue de Varenne. The public is captured by furniture of a refined design and sophistication, revealed through the choice of materials that were luxurious but unostentatious. The Liaigre style continues to develop up until today, jealously guarding its reputation of quality, supported by French manufacturing, steeped in the great traditions of craftsmanship.
